My great grandfather Robert Dixon was born in the village of East Ruston in Norfolk.
He was an only child. He left his parents in the mid 1920's with the fishing fleet and travelled to Peterhead in North East Scotland, where he met and married his wife Joanna Falconer.
Visits back to East Ruston were far and few between. Apparently when the trawler he skippered when down the Norfolk Coast he'd cycle to their home. He didnt take his son with him.
Information about the Norfolk side was a bit vague, there were no cousins there to get in touch with.
But with the power of the internet as I went backwards in time (and thanks to a brilliant online archive of baptisms, marriages and deaths) the tree grew rapidly, and from postings on various forums I found myself lots of very very distant family.
